Prof. John Wang from National University of Singapore was invited at deliver talk entitled“Micelle/silica Nanocapsules for Targeted Bioimaging and Theranostic Application”on November 28, 2016. Prof. Xiu Song Zhao, who is the IMEE director, has chaired the seminar. Many faculty members and students have listened to this talk.

In his report, Prof. John Wang presented his research group's work in multifunctional nanocapsules in recent years. Prof. John Wang's research group prepared a polyethylene glycol modified silica nanocapsule by carefully designing and controlling experimental conditions. They were able to encapsulate single or multiple ferric oxide magnetic nanocrystals with silica nanocapsules. The application of nanocapsules in targeted biological imaging and controlled drug delivery was studied. Prof. John Wang has brought a wonderful talk to the audience and broadened their visions with more insights for this field.

Prof. John Wang is the director of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He has over 30 years of teaching and research experience in functional materials and materials chemistry. Prof. John Wang's research interests include: Biomaterials and nano-hybrid materials for biological Imaging and treatment; nanostructured materials for sustainable energy. Professor John Wang has published more than 300 papers in international journals.
