On April 14, 2019, fellows of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering Shi Xue Dou and Hua Kun Liu were invited to the hospital to visit IMEE and joined an academic discussion with the staff and students of IMEE. .At 9 am, the two academicians visited the laboratory under the guidance of associate professor Lian Ying Zhang, and listened to the brief introduction of the development process and current operation of the institute. Then the two academicians had an academic discussion with the staff and student representatives in the related research fields of the institute. Associate professor Hongbin Feng introduced the team members, achievements and mission objectives of the institute in detail. The two academicians praised the rapid development and achievements of the institute. At the discussion, academician Shi Xue Dou expressed his deep love for the motherland as an overseas Chinese researcher, expressed his support for the rapid rise of China at present, the increasing support for scientific research and the creation of favorable scientific research environment, and encouraged young researchers to seize the opportunity and accept challenges. Academician Hua Kun Liu shared the scientific research cooperation and team operation experience and answered the research confusion raised by the students. This academic discussion lasted nearly an hour. At 10 am, academician Shi Xue Dou delivered an academic report titled “Strategies and approaches for materials processing and applications” to teachers and students of Qingdao University in the lecture hall of the library, which attracted nearly 200 teachers and students.

 Shi Xue Dou is Distingiushed Professor and Director of the Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (ISEM) at Australian Institute of Innovative Materials, University of Wollongong. He was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 1994. Hua Kun Liu is a distinguished professor and the co-ordinator for Energy Materials Research Program at ISEM, the University of Wollongong. She was a founding member of ISEM in 1994. She was awarded the most competitive ARC Australian Professorial Fellowships by Australian Research Council in 1994-1998, 1999-2003, 2003-2005, and 2006-2010. She was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 2013.
